JooFox Content Title Creates Dynamic Title For a Joomla! Website

I did some research this week. I found out how to show titles dynamically for a Joomla 1.0.x website - what I mean is that when you click on each page of your website, it will show its own title on top of the title bar. It is so cool to see that. If you are curious, I'll show you how you can create a website like that. It will be beneficial in terms of Search Engine Optimization too.

In order to do that, you need to download JooFox Content Title here - It is a plug-in (Mambot). JooFox Content Title helps you to create a dynamic title for each page of your website. What you need to do is to write your desired keyword into the TITLE ALIAS of every item. It will appear as TITLE of the respective page. The installation is very simple. Just follow the steps below:

• After you downloaded bot_joofox_ctitle.zip file; do not unzip it

• Go to you admin area, click on Installers/Mambots on the menu bar

• Click on Browse button to find bot_joofox_ctitle.zip file from your local computer

• Click on Upload File & Install button to upload it

• If you are succeeded; click on Mambots/Site Mambots on the menu bar and publish it

I found this plug-in very useful and wanted to share it with you. It does what it says. If you have a Joomla! webwite, definitely you should use JooFox Content Title to optimize it.

Which Joomla! Sef is better? OpenSEF or Sh404SEF?

Both OpenSEF and Sh404SEF are Joomla! components. They are purposely designed to rewrite Joomla urls to a more user-friendly format. Sh404SEF is the best plug-in for search engine friendly urls so far and it is FREE. A couple improvements have been made since OpenSEF.

• It is optional to work with/without .htaccess file
  

• It handles header a lot better than OpenSEF
  

• It produces valid page not found 404 errors
  

• Its speed is fast in terms of caching
  

• It uses small DB (database) queries
  

• It eliminates duplicated links

• Do not unzip the file you just downloaded
  

• Go to your admin area, click on Installers/Components on the menu bar
  

• Find the url that you just downloaded com_sh404SEF_Version_1.3_RC_build_150.joomla.zip file, and click on Upload File & Install button
  

• If you succeed, sh404SEF should show up in the Components tag
  

• Click on Modules/Site Modules on the menu bar, make sure sh404SEF Custom tags module is the last module published, and make sure you publish it in the last module position in your template; otherwise it won't work properly.
  

• Click on Components/sh404SEF on the menu bar and click on Click here to switch to extended display (with all available parameters) button on the upper right corner
  

• Make sure you click on sh404SEF Configuration button, and configure it to meet your needs

If you did not have enabled Joomla Default SEF in Site/Global Configuration area, check Extension - The OpenSEF Component For Joomla! 1.0.x to get that done. Follow instructions there to make changes to .htaccess file or you can check Sh404SEF documentations out; they tell you exactly what you need to do.

Two problems I found so far. One of them is my Sitemap is still looking like this: http://www.internetoutput.com/component/option,com_sefservicemap/Itemid,40/ which I don't like it. I created an url using View/Edit Custom Redirects. However it doesn't seem to be working.

Another problem is that I don't like index.php showing up in my urls. I found the solution for this from Joomla Forum. Go to Components/sh404SEF on the menu bar, click on sh404SEF Configuration, click on Advanced tag, find Rewriting Mode?, change it to be with .htaccess (mod_rewrite), and save it. I tested my website and it works!

Update: Sitemap link has been fixed. Now it looks like the way that is supposed to be: http://www.internetoutput.com/sitemap.

Switching Joomla! Default Editor TinyMCE to JCE

Want to have a better editor for your Joomla! website? Here I am going to introduce you to a newly released editor, JCE (Joomla Content Editor), for your Joomla! site. It is FREE to download, easy to install, and convenient to use. It is awesome for some functions such as Advanced Image/Media and File handling, Plugin Support, and an Administration interface for editor configuration.

I installed it and I love it. It makes upload images, videos, photos a lot easier. Everything is being done through the editor's interface area. If your want to have this amazing editor, download it here. The latest release is bot_jce_118.zip. After you download it, follow these instructions to install it:

• First you have to download admin component com_jce_111.zip here and do not unzip it

• Go to your admin area and click on Installers/Components on the menu bar

• Browse the url you just downloaded com_jce_111.zip file; click on the Upload File & Install button

• After you succeed, you can see JCE Admin under Components tag on the menu bar

• Go to your admin area; click on Installers/Mambots on the menu bar

• Locate the url you downloaded bot_jce_118.zip file (do not unzip this file); click on the Upload File & Install button

• If you succeed, click on Mambot/Site Mambot on the menu bar, and publish it

• Click on Site/Global Configuration on the menu bar; change Default WYSIWYG Editor to JCE Editor Mambot

Some people have problems with JCE, a trick to fix the problems is that you have to set your admin login page the same url as your configuration url. For example, if your configuration url is http://www.yoursite.com, then your admin login page should set to be http://www.yoursite.com/administrator and not http://yoursite.com/administrator.

Another problem is how to fix the editor's content background color. The default color came with whatever your template's background color is and it is very hard to see what you type. Create a file and name it editor_content.css. Open the file and put the following code there and save it:

body{ margin: 0; padding: 0; text-align: left; background: white; background-image: none; }

Upload this file to the folder as root_directory/templates/your_template/css/editor_content.css. Go to your admin area and click on Components/JCE Admin/JCE Configuration on the menu bar. Change Template CSS classes to 'No'. Type editor_content.css in Custom CSS classes and save it. Hope you enjoy this amazing editor like I do.
